After stepping into Rosie’s Deli Café TSL became part of a community. While sipping a great coffee served in an ornate teacup one hears Rosie and her staff call each fresh face by name and with a smile. It’s no wonder why ever since 2004 the real Brixton locals have been coming back for more. She even supplies coffee to the customers of Ms Cupcake next door and has a cook book which graces the shelf another TSL recommendation, Books For Cooks.
With a constantly changing menu Rosie’s Deli Café is great for its food as well as its atmosphere. The sandwiches and salads are accompanied by six scrumptious choices made fresh that day using ingredients from the surrounding market. It’s fantastic value considering that lunch or dinner can come to under £10.
Rosie’s has now begun late night openings on Thursday to Saturday nights under the evening pseudonym Sean’s Bar, due to Sean – classic cocktail connoisseur and brain child of delectable evening snacks. From homemade crackling (£1.50) to cheese and piccalilli (£5), fresh salads (£5ish) or the pinnacle (at least in TSL’s opinion) the Rillettes of all Rillettes (£4.50) – YUM! Pair these with some of the classic chasers, Old Fashioned’s, Negroni’s and Brambles’s (each a a strong serving at £6), and you’re in for a exquisite evening in Rosie’s relaxed setting.
Not only is Rosie’s a great breakfast, brunch and lunch café, it’s now also the perfect place to pop by for dinner and a night cap!
