Shoreditch Highstreet (Overground)
There is only one café and bar on Brick Lane, yes the tourist-ridden hotspot, that TSL wishes to mention. Full Stop. A place which lifts the mood as soon as you walk through the narrow entrance and make a seating decision between the light airy front and darken retro chill-out at the back. Fortunately free WiFi is ubiquitous and not prejudice to wherever you choose to sit.
Opened in 2011, Full Stop was the next chapter after Pete’s coffee truck in Church Street market started in 2009. When he got bored working for others his decision to set up on his own meant his friend Rob was roped in to help. However, true to his own entrepreneurial streak, once Rob got bored working for Pete the pair got together to open Fullstop on equal footing. Since its start, this is the place where you come to escape – not only does the soundtrack of eclectic world music give such an impression but also the décor – simple yet with style. Check out Full Stops Ben behind the bar.
At Full Stop every item has a reason as to why it’s there. Whether it’s the breads, delivered fresh from one of five bakeries depending on their use (Seven Seeded for the pastries, E5 Bakehouse for the sandwiches), top Squaremile coffee, or the speciality beers and ciders that come from independent breweries within the UK. We wholeheartedly recommend coming here for breakfast (they’re open all-day) and trying the avocado sandwich with sundried tomatoes and cream cheese, a steal at £3.50. Alternatively, sipping on drinks before you’re evening’s about to get underway is another favourite.
